A Boston Celtics player down on the floor. The entire arena silent. Players emotionally drained after seeing what had just happened. No, this isn't a description of Gordon Hayward's scene on opening night. Unfortunately, this is a whole new scenario and it involves Jaylen Brown.

Brown was running the break and went up for a two-handed slam. However, his momentum forced him to lose grip on the rim, resulting in Brown falling on his back and immediately going still with his side to the floor. It was very scary indeed and Celtics reporter Marc D'Amico described the situation in one his tweets:

Jaylen Brown is down on the ground and the entire arena has gone silent. Marcus Smart is down on his knee praying. Al Horford is sitting by Brown's side.

After moments of prayer, curiosity, and concern, D'Amico followed up on his tweet with a positive update:

EVEN BETTER NEWS: medical personnel has brought Brown to his feet, and with that, the entire arena rises to its feet to cheer him on. NO STRETCHER NEEDED!

The Celtics were saved from an utterly cruel irony on this one. Hayward isn't expected to return this season, and in his absence, the likes of Brown and rookie Jayson Tatum have stepped up to help bring Boston to the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

Prior to the fall, the high-flying swingman had played in 28 minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves, registering 14 points, five rebounds, and one long-distance connection.
