It's official: The Big Ticket has punched his ticket to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Kevin Garnett, who spent 21 seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Brooklyn Nets, will finally take his rightful place into the hoops Hall.

With the big news, ESPN caught up with the freshly minted Hall of Famer. In the interview, Garnett emotionally described what it meant to reach basketball immortality.

“It's the culmination, man. You put countless hours into this, dedicate yourself to a craft, take no days off. You play through injury, playing through demise, through obstacles. Give no excuses for anything. You learn, you build. This is the culmination. All those hours of everything that you've ever put up for. This what what you do it for. To be called a ‘Hall of Famer' is everything.”

Garnett is a player who has his emotions on his sleeve, and obviously, this is a very important moment for him. Many still remember the iconic moment when he won the NBA championship with the Celtics in 2008. Garnett gave one of the most emotional and memorable post-Finals interview in history, marked by when he screamed “Anything's possible!” at the top of his lungs.

His buddy and Celtics teammate Paul Pierce also appeared on the show and shared his experience of playing with Garnett. Pierce said that he already saw KG's passion and fire even in high school and this led to his successful career in the NBA.

Through his 21-year Hall of Fame career, made complete by his championship with the Celtics, Garnett amassed numerous accolades, including that aforementioned NBA title, an MVP in 2003-04, a Defensive Player of the Year award in 2007-08, and 15 All-Star appearances, among others. For a scrawny, 6-foot-11, 220-lb. kid from South Carolina, that sure is one hell of a career.
