During the Los Angeles Lakers' thrilling win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday night in which Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo beat his former team at the buzzer, Kyrie Irving did something weird.

In the first quarter, a whistle was blown with the ball in Irving's hands, and the Celtics star did his best video game impression:

Based on the look on Irving's face, it doesn't appear like he was joking, either.

Instead, it seemed like he was trying to get up a shot after the whistle, but with Lakers big man Tyson Chandler in the way, well, that didn't seem too plausible, so Irving tried to pump fake his way to a practice shot.

No dice.

The 26-year-old is having a fantastic season, but he had a rather rough night against Los Angeles. Yes, he finished with 24 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and a couple of steals, but he went just 6-of-21 from the floor in one of his worst shooting performances of the year.

On the 2018-19 campaign overall, the All-Star guard is averaging 23.8 points, seven assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals over 32.9 minutes per game while shooting 49.8 percent from the field, 40.7 percent from three-point range and 86.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Irving originally joined the Celtics during the summer of 2017 after coming over in a trade that sent fellow point guard Isaiah Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The floor general has now earned All-Star selections in each of his first two seasons in Boston, and C's fans are certainly hoping he lands many more in Beantown rather than taking his talents elsewhere in free agency this coming summer.
