Once upon a time, Chandler Parsons was a key contributor for the Houston Rockets when Dwight Howard hit free agency. Howard, who had a strenuous year with the Los Angeles Lakers, was intrigued by Parsons' friendly personality and the opportunity to build a winner by his side long-term.

Howard later said that Parsons was a big reason that he ultimately chose to go to the Rockets, but by the next offseason, Chandler was off to the Dallas Mavericks.

Now, Parsons is at it again. Howard hasn't exactly fit in well during his time in Houston, and it's widely assumed that he'll decline his option and enter free agency this summer.

The Mavericks have been mentioned as a contender for Howard's services previously, but they'll probably need him to sign for under the max if they want to fit below the salary cap.

The idea of playing with his buddy Chandler again has to be enticing for Dwight (if Parsons even stays in Dallas, that is). Howard can fulfill the role that DeAndre Jordan walked away from at the last minute last summer.

So, what does Parsons think of the idea? Via Tim MacMahon of ESPN:

“I think he can still dominate the game. I think he can still be a great player in this league. And I think he’s going to leave Houston, so why not come here?”

Howard certainly isn't the star that he used to be, but with 13.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game on the season, he is still an impact player in the paint. You can't sleep on his defense either, when he's motivated at least.

Will he go to Dallas? We'll have to wait a couple months to find out, but the rumor mill could heat up at any moment.
