He may have already signed with the Memphis Grizzlies last summer, but before he decided to bring his talents to Tennessee, Chandler Parsons considered joining another team.

The 6-foot-10 forward reportedly was close to teaming up with Damian Lillard by signing with the Portland Trail Blazers. Now he is all set to make his season debut against that exact team on Sunday.

The Blazers offered Parsons the same max contract, but he believed he has a better chance of showcasing his talents with the Grizzlies as a better fit there.

With a 3-3 start to the campaign so far, the 28-year-old small forward will look to contribute immediately to his new team and help string a few wins together. Even if he is expected to be eased back slowly by the coaching staff, it won't be surprising if he can make an impact right away, especially with his outside shooting. Parsons is a career 38 percent shooter from three-point distance and is also one of the more versatile players in the league with the ability to play multiple positions.

These aspects of his game made Chandler Parsons a sought-after free agent last summer and now a valuable asset to the Grizzlies, who are looking to make a lot of noise in the Western Conference this season.
