Chargers HC Anthony Lynn says Joey Bosa will ‘absolutely’ be ready for Week 1
The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t get to see any of Joey Bosa in their first three preseason games due to a foot injury which Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said was just “sore.” And with teams set to rest their starters for the final week of preseason, Bosa will likely not feature next week this Thursday as well.
Lynn added that he thinks Bosa could’ve played in their most recent game against the New Orleans Saints had it been a regular season contest.
It must have been concerning for Chargers fans not to see Bosa suit up against the Saints despite Lynn downplaying the severity of his injury. And after they already lost both Jason Verrett and Jaylen Watkins to season-ending injuries, the last thing their defense needed was for their star defensive end to miss significant time as well.
Thankfully, that does not appear to be the case, if Lynn’s comments are anything to go by. The Chargers likely elected to keep Bosa out as a precaution to prevent further injuries, which makes sense given that it’s just preseason.
Bosa has been nothing short of a beast since coming into the league. He followed up his terrific 10.5-sack rookie season (in just 12 games with no training camp) with 12.5 sacks last year. If the Chargers are to make noise this year as some expect them to, he will likely be a major factor in their success.
