Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has wrapped up his 14th season where he put together another highly productive campaign. It was yet another year that the Chargers missed the playoffs, but Rivers has continued to show no regression in any manner in terms of his play on the field.

This has also once again brought into question of how much longer he wants to push his NFL career now that he's entering what would be his age 37 season. According to SiriusXM NFL Radio, head coach Anthony Lynn voiced that he believes Rivers could play well into his 40s if he wanted to do so.

He strung together another strong season in 2017 finishing second with 4,515 passing yards, fifth with 28 passing touchdowns, and ninth with a 96.0 passer rating that helped him earn his seventh Pro Bowl selection. This included passing for more than 300 yards six times, recording multiple touchdown passes on nine occasions, and a passer rating above 100 nine times. This also marked his fifth straight season with more than 4,000 passing yards and ninth overall in his career.

Rivers is set to enter the third year of his four-year, $83.2 million deal that will pay him $22 million in base salary and bonuses, and final year of that contract in 2019 has him on track to earn $22 million. He has continued to voice interest in playing a few more seasons but has yet to clarify how much longer that will be aside from stating that he won't be playing at 45 years old. This could simply make his next contract be the last of his career.

Regardless of how much longer Philip Rivers decides to play, he has progressively put together a Hall of Fame caliber resume as he's currently ninth in league history with 50, 348 passing yards that could see him pass up Hall of Famer John Elway next season. He is also currently sixth all-time with 340 passing touchdowns tied with Hall of Famer Frank Tarkenton. These next few years should further round has been an impressive career.
