For many players, the offseason is still in full swing. However, it appears Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekerler has already shifted gears towards the 2020 NFL season.

Ekeler recently took to Twitter to show that he is already back to work in the gym:

Ekeler is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason and is sure to garner plenty of interest on the market. He clearly has big plans for the 2020 campaign and is already putting in the work to make it happen, which is a good sign for potential suitors.

Ekeler is coming off a stellar 2019 NFL season that began with him serving as the workhorse for the Chargers while running back Melvin Gordon held out for a new deal. Although his production was ultimately capped by Gordon's return, he still finished the year with 557 yards rushing, 993 yards receiving, and 11 touchdowns.

The former undrafted free agent out of Western State Colorado has largely served as a complementary option in the backfield for Los Angeles until making his way up the depth chart thanks to his versatile skill set and has now established himself as one of the NFL's premier receiving running backs. Although his prowess as a pass-catcher is second-to-none, he has also managed to improve in the run game with each year.

Los Angeles is reportedly set to place a second-round tender on Ekeler in order to keep him around for next season. Whichever team lands him can take solace in the fact that he will begin offseason activities already in shape.
