Earlier this week, Austin Ekeler was placed on the Los Angeles Chargers' injury report with a hip injury. The running back did not practice on Thursday or Friday, putting his status for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots as questionable.

On his Instagram story, Ekeler made his situation more interesting. He posted a screenshot of a fantasy football lineup featuring himself, along with a winking emoji. The not-so-subtle hint suggests that Ekeler intends to play.

Ekeler played in all six of Los Angeles' games of the season, rushing for 356 yards and four touchdowns while also recording 242 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air. He leads the Chargers in total yards from scrimmage and ranks 17th in the league. His seven rushing-plus-receiving touchdowns tie for fourth-most in the league.

Having Ekeler present would be especially helpful against New England, who allows the sixth-lowest points per game mark in the NFL. Quarterback Justin Herbert will appear to have the benefit of his leading rusher and one of his key receiving targets ready to go. Ekeler is third on the team in receptions and receiving yards behind only wide receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen.

Los Angeles carries a 4-2 record into their Week 8 home matchup against the 3-4 Patriots.
