The Los Angeles Chargers are set to take on the New England Patriots in their Week 8 matchup. It should be a great game for the Bolts, however, they could be without their star running back Austin Ekeler. This could be detrimental to fantasy football managers who have him rostered onto their teams.

According to Field Yates, Ekeler has officially been listed as questionable for the Chargers' upcoming game. LA's rushing attack could be in jeopardy on Sunday if Ekeler is a no-go.

So far this season, Austin Ekeler has been an efficient RB1 in fantasy football. He is one of the best receiving backs in the league, making him a valuable asset in fantasy football. Through the first seven weeks of the NFL season, Austin Ekeler is ranked as the RB4, with a total of 128.8 fantasy points scored, averaging 21.5 points per week (in PPR formats).

Losing Ekeler is not ideal, as he's been a workhorse for fantasy managers alike. Although he's not known for scoring touchdowns, his ability in the receiving game makes him an elite fantasy football option. If he's not 100%, Los Angeles could opt to keep him out against the Patriots.

If that's the case, fantasy football managers must start thinking of other options. Hopefully, you have some depth on your roster to make up for it. If not, searching for a one-week rental is necessary.

One option to replace Austin Ekeler in Week 8 is Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Kenneth Gainwell. Miles Sanders has officially been placed on the IR, giving Gainwell an immediate starting role in Philadelphia. He's similar to Ekeler in that he receives most of his work in the passing game and could be a valuable flex option until Sanders returns.

Keep a close eye on Austin Ekeler, as the Chargers could rule him out at any moment. If they don't, then Ekeler becomes a must-start running back in fantasy football.
