The Los Angeles Chargers might be without their top rusher for Week 16. Running back Austin Ekeler is one of the most recent Chargers players to be placed on their COVID-19 list.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon.

Wide receiver Jalen Guyton joins Ekeler on the Chargers' COVID-19 list. Ekeler's uncertain status for Week 16 is certain to shake things up during fantasy football playoffs. He has been an extremely productive running back in the league this season, especially when it comes to his fantasy payout.

Ekeler is ranked #13 overall for fantasy running backs on CBS Sports. He had a season high of 35 fantasy points in the Chargers' Week 11 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

There is a lot at stake for FF owners who are considering starting Ekeler this week. Whether you have some serious cash or year-long bragging rights on the line, pay close attention to any news on Ekeler this week. If he is activated for Week 16 against the Houston Texans, the running back is expected to get 13 fantasy points.

However, if you are deciding between him and one of Thursday or Saturday's running backs, you might want to steer clear of Ekeler. There are multiple other running backs that are solid, reliable, and healthy enough to start for Week 16. For example, Nick Chubb has been outstanding for the Cleveland Browns this season. I would put him in my lineup over Ekeler before the Browns vs Green Bay Packers game Saturday afternoon.
