Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been out since the team's Week 4 encounter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after sustaining a severe hamstring injury. After spending time on the team's injured reserve list,  he will be looking to make his return in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills, as per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

It was also reported that he will not be given the lead running back role right from the get-go as he is expected to make some more adjustments to ease his return on the field. In his absence, the Chargers have been relying heavily on their aerial attack to fill in the team's scoring department.

Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen led the charge in their most recent game against the New York Jets when he balled out with 145 receiving yards on 16 receptions and a scoring touchdown. His fellow wideout in Mike Williams also contributed 72 yards on four touches and a touchdown scored.

A 34-28 win in Week 11 eventually lifted the Chargers to a 3-7 record while still being grounded in the bottom spot of the AFC West division. They are looking to lean on Austin Ekeler's production to fill in his fellow ball-carrier in Kalen Ballage who has been stepping up for the Chargers as of late. He remains to be a game-time decision due to having ankle and calf injuries.

The former undrafted rusher's return on the field could ultimately give the Chargers a much-needed boost in their rushing game especially when they match up against a tough assignment in the Bills.
