Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler appears to be nearing a return following several weeks on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury. Ekler himself took to Twitter to tease his impending comeback.

Ekeler posted a video of himself doing individual workouts, while also sending a shoutout to his patient fantasy owners:

Ekeler looks up to speed in this clip — literally — and it does appear that he's going to be back on the field sooner rather than later.

Ekeler went down in Week 4 after suffering what was later diagnosed as a Grade 2 hamstring sprain. He was carted off the field during the game, and there was real concern that the 25-year-old had suffered a significant injury. True enough, he was given a four-to-six-week recovery timetable not long after.

The tail end of that window will be on Sunday, when the Chargers take on the Seattle Seahawks in their Week 10 matchup. It does not seem like Ekeler will be fit enough for that one, though, which means that he was unable to recover within the timetable previously provided by the team.

Whatever the case may be, Ekeler is likely coming off IR pretty soon, and as he indicated above, his fantasy owners will get a tremendous boost once he returns — whenever that ends up being. Better check your waiver wire in case an impatient GM dropped Ekeler, because at this point, he should be rostered in all formats.

As for the Chargers as a team, they're a disappointing 2-6 on the season. However, rookie quarterback Justin Herbert has looked fantastic for much of the year. Herbert and Ekeler should be a formidable duo in the future.
