The Los Angeles Chargers made a major move earlier this month when they signed free agent cornerback Chris Harris Jr. on a two-year deal worth $20.5 million.

Despite going 5-11 last season, Los Angeles' “win-now” mentality has the 30-year-old defensive back excited to play with his new team.

“I'm excited about my next chapter,” Chris Harris Jr. said per Chris Hayre of Chargers.com. “I'm looking forward to coming to L.A. and being able to help this team win, help this organization win. Just talking to Anthony Lynn and Tom (Telesco), those guys are hungry. They want to win now.”

Harris, who spent all nine of his previous seasons with the Denver Broncos, is a former All-Pro talent that was widely considered one of the top free agents in the 2020 class.

The four-time Pro Bowler joins a Chargers secondary that includes talent such as Desmond King, Derwin James, Rayshawn James and Casey Hayward. Last season, the team ranked fifth in the NFL in terms of passing yards allowed per game and was in the top 10 in terms of passing touchdowns surrendered.

In 2019, Harris recorded 56 tackles, six passes defended, one tackle for a loss and one interception. As for a “win-now” mentality, Denver has struggled since making the Super Bowl in 2016. Despite multiple Pro Bowl appearances from their star corner during that time, the Broncos have gone just 27-37 in the last four seasons.

“Man, we got a lot of potential,” Harris added. “We've got a lot of guys that have a lot of talent, now we just got to put in the work.”

Harris is one of the Chargers' many big free agency acquisitions this offseason. Defensive tackle Linval Joseph and former Green Bay Packer offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga have both signed big contracts with the team.
