Los Angeles Chargers rookie Derwin James was allegedly robbed last month at gunpoint according to a report from TMZ.

James and his uncle were leaving Italian restaurant on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles when they were rushed by two men with handguns according to the warrant obtained by TMZ. The men demanded jewelry and got away with a chain and a Rolex.

When James tried to chase the guys down in his Rolls-Royce, he discovered that his tires had been slashed by the men. There have been no arrests in the incident, and the police are still looking for the suspect.

James was taken with the 17th pick by the Chargers this year, and many believed the team got a steal and maybe the best secondary player in the draft. Joey Bosa has given nothing but praise all summer to James and talked about how excited he was to have him on his team.

“I’m excited,” Bosa said on the first day of OTAs. “We needed help on the defense. Not that we had a bad defense last year, but all the help that we can get in the secondary (is beneficial). “And then I think interior D-Line is where we need it because we have players in Corey (Liuget) and (Brandon) Mebane, but it’s about staying healthy and having that depth.”

Bosa, James and the rest of the Chargers will report to training camp later this week, and expectations are high about what this team can accomplish this year.
