The Los Angeles Chargers have made some significant changes to their roster this offseason. Regardless, it seems teams around the league do not plan on taking them lightly in the 2020 NFL season.

The Chargers are set to usher in a new era at SsFi Stadium. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, one anonymous exec expects them to still be competitive:

“They are close,” the exec said. “This isn't a rebuild.”

The Chargers made headlines when they parted ways with quarterback Philip Rivers this offseason. They had reportedly been one of the teams looking to make a splash in free agency by landing former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, however, it never came to fruition. They have since opted to move forward with quarterback Tyrod Taylor as the starter.

Meanwhile, the departure of running back Melvin Gordon has left a rather notable void in the backfield. Los Angeles managed to secure running back Austin Ekeler for the long haul and they are still working on a new deal for tight end Hunter Henry after placing their franchise tag on him this offseason.

Since they managed to lock up their firepower on the outside, the Chargers seemingly put an emphasis on shoring up the protection for Taylor by signing offensive guard Trai Turner and offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga. Of course, their biggest splash thus far has been the signing of former Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. this offseason.

with all the talent on still on this team, it is safe to say that they are closer to competing for the playoffs than they are to a rebuild.
