Joey Bosa has been a stalwart for the Los Angeles Chargers on the defensive side of the ball since 2016 and is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Ahead of the start of training camp, Chargers general manager Tom Telesco gave an update on a possible extension for Bosa.

During a conference call on Monday, Telesco spoke about how he hasn't heard of any of the Chargers players opting out for the 2020 season. In addition to that, he said that there wasn't anything contract-wise to speak about when it came to Bosa.

Bosa, who the Chargers took with the No. 3 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, is going to be playing under his fifth-year option in the upcoming season. As a result, the former Buckeye is set to make $14.3 million with the team in 2020.

Some teams, with the possibility of the salary cap declining in 2021 due to COVID-19, have been wary of finalizing contracts with players. However, Telesco doesn't seem to be concerned with the prospects of a lower salary cap next offseason for the Chargers.

“I always have future years in my mind,” Telesco said, via the Orange County Register. “I’d say right now, they’re in the back of my mind not in the front of my mind, but we’re set up pretty well for 2021 no matter what happens. So I feel pretty good about that. We’re in a good position for that part down the road, so that’s not a concern right now.”

Given the contract that Myles Garrett earned this offseason, Bosa could be in for a massive payday in 2021. Whether Bosa's next contract comes with the Chargers or not remains to be seen.
