Justin Herbert saw his dreams come true when he was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers with the No. 6 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, before there was ever a possibility of Herbert becoming an NFL quarterback, he almost ended up declaring for the MLB Draft.

Back when Herbert was in high school, he attended Sheldon High School in Oregon. While in high school, Herbert played football, basketball, and baseball. Unfortunately in his junior season at high school, Herbert suffered a broken leg, causing some complications in his recruitment process.

Due to his broken leg, Herbert only received scholarship offers from Northern Arizona, Portland State, and Montana State. Of those options, Herbert considered going to Montana State to play alongside his brother.

But after a successful senior season in high school, Herbert finally received a scholarship offer from Oregon. Seeing that he was a first-round pick in the NFL, it's safe to say everything worked out for him.

Besides football, it appears that Herbert was also interested in playing baseball. Over the years, we've seen more and more quarterbacks who have football and baseball backgrounds enter the NFL. Most recently, the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray are the guys that come to mind.

While he was the No. 6 pick by the Chargers, Herbert is going to have to earn the starting job in Los Angeles. Currently, it appears that veteran Tyrod Taylor will get the first opportunity to start for the Chargers in 2020. Regardless of what happens, there was a slight chance that Herbert never made it to the NFL.
