Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa may be out of action for longer than expected. The team's star pass rusher was listed as questionable for the season opener last week. He has been dealing with a foot injury that was considered to be minor.

Bosa's injury is officially listed as a bone bruise and he will inactive for their matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs this evening. He played sparingly in practice on Wednesday but did not practice on Thursday or Friday. This injury may be an aggravation of a soft tissue injury he suffered in early August on the same foot, via Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL.com.

Sources say Bosa is scheduled to travel to Green Bay to visit with renowned foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson on Wednesday for a second opinion — timing that suggests Bosa's availability for next week's game at Buffalo is in doubt, too.

The Chargers will be missing one of the of the best young stars in the league. Bosa has racked up 28 sacks and been named a Pro Bowler in his brief two-year career in the league thus far. Once he returns he'll rejoin Darius Philon, Melvin Ingram and Brandon Mebane to anchor the defense.

With Bosa in the mix, his team has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. They were ranked 3rd in the NFL in sacks last year, recording a total of 43 as a team for the 2017-18 season. Bosa accounted for 12.5 of these. Once he returns from seeing a specialist, the team will evaluate a safe plan for his return to the team.
