According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa is not expected to play in his team's Week 2 matchup with the Bills.

There is no timetable for when Chargers should expect him to return, but it looks like it may be a few weeks before he is cleared to play. The Chargers lost 38-28 to the Kansas City Chiefs in their season opener last week. It was obvious that the team needed their top pass-rusher on the field for this matchup.

The Chargers' lone sack came from Derwin James, a rookie selected as a first-rounder in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Florida State. The team's next best pass-rusher from last season, Melvin Ingram, only recorded a single tackle in the game. Their inability to get to the quarterback hurt them big-time. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn spoke out about how frustrating the injury has been for Bosa before their season opener.

From Eric D. Williams of ESPN:

“It's very frustrating,” Lynn said. “He's been waiting for a while to get back on the field, and he's doing everything he can. He just wants to be out there with his teammates. He's pretty frustrated right now.”

Patrick Mahomes looked comfortable against the Chargers, completing 15 of 27 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns in his first game as a starter. Bosa will likely be evaluated on a week-to-week basis for now.

The Chargers should get a break heading into Week 2. The Bills were forced to pull their starting quarterback Nathan Peterman, after a miserable debut against the Baltimore Ravens. Even without Bosa, the Chargers should take advantage of facing rookie quarterback Josh Allen, who had limited production against the Ravens after he was called upon to replace Peterman last week.
