Joey Bosa officially ruled out vs. Dolphins in Week 10

Joey Bosa, Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers ruled out star defensive end Joey Bosa for Sunday’s tilt with the Miami Dolphins, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Running back Justin Jackson will also miss the contest.

This will be Bosa’s second consecutive missed game after he suffered a concussion in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. He did not play in last weekend’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chargers will lament the continued absence of perhaps their top defensive star.

Los Angeles’ defensive unit has been ravaged by injuries this year, with safety Derwin James missing the entirety of the season due to a meniscus injury and veteran cornerback Chris Harris Jr. playing just three games. Bosa’s edge-rushing partner Melvin Ingram has only suited up for five games thus far.

The former No. 3 overall pick has been among the healthier players on L.A.’s roster. Bosa started each of the team’s first seven games, racking up 4.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and eight tackles for a loss.

But the Chargers will not have Bosa on the field on Sunday, which hardly bodes well against a Dolphins team starting to find its stride with Tua Tagovailoa under center.

Tua starred in Miami’s win over the Arizona Cardinals last weekend, completing 20 of 28 passes for 248 yards and a pair of scores while also rushing for 35 yards.

Meanwhile, the Chargers are coming off another heartbreaking loss against the Raiders. Los Angeles blew a first-half lead, coming up just short after a last-second touchdown was overturned.

Justin Herbert and Co. will have to get off to a fast start against the Dolphins with the defense ailing.
