Though this year's preseason training has been quite different for the entire league due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Justin Herbert has been slowly getting acquainted with his new squad. He's been going through workouts with some of his new teammates as the lockdown measures are slowly easing out.

Earlier on Tuesday, the rookie decided to put on his new helmet as he took the field for some throws and, per the Chargers, the bolt does look good on the rook.

The Oregon alum ended his four-year collegiate career with a bang by leading the Ducks to an impressive 12-2 record. He even snagged the 2020 Rose Bowl Offensive MVP award. The 22-year old was one of the biggest talents coming into the 2020 NFL Draft and is looking to prove that he is indeed ready for the big stage.

Though it seems that the franchise is paving the way for Herbert to start at the quarterback spot, the Chargers don't want to rush into things and are choosing to remain patient with their lottery pick. Per QB coach Pep Hamilton, the starting job is still up for grabs as Herbert and playmaking vet Tyrod Taylor would have to earn the slot when the team's training camp resumes later this month.

It seems that the young QB has his work cut out for him, but if there's anything Herbert has proven so far, it's that he is up for the challenge.
