Keenan Allen has now become the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Allen and the Los Angeles Chargers agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract extension on Saturday afternoon. The deal will pay him an average annual value of $20 million per season.

This new deal with lock Allen in with Chargers through the 2024 season.

The only higher paid receiver in the NFL is the Atlanta Falcons' Julio Jones, who earns an average value of $22 million per season on his new three-year deal that he signed earlier this offseason.

Allen has consistently been one of the NFL's best receivers since entering the league back in 2013. The 28-year-old is a three-time Pro Bowler who is coming off of a banner season, catching a career-high 104 passes to go along with 1,199 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Through seven NFL seasons, Allen has career numbers of 524 receptions, 6,405 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns. He also been named the NFL Rookie of the Year and the Comeback Player of the Year back in 2017.

With the departure of Philip Rivers to the Indianapolis Colts and Antonio Gates' retirement last season, Allen has emerged as the veteran leader for the Chargers as they continue to rebuild.
