The Chargers are dealing with multiple holes in their game day roster due to injuries and COVID-19. Justin Herbert will be without one of his top wide receivers for Sunday's matchup. Head coach Brandon Staley told the media Friday afternoon that Keenan Allen is out for Week 14 against the Giants.

“I think Keenan and Scott will be out for the game, and Mike and Chris have continued to test negative, and so as long as tomorrow goes okay, they should be good for the game,” Staley said.

On Monday, Allen was placed on the Chargers' COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus. Two days later, teammates Mike Williams and Chris Harris joined the list after being deemed as close contacts to the wide receiver. From what Staley said after Friday's practice, it sounds like this was strictly precautionary, and the two have consistently had negative tests.

On the other hand, star wide receiver Allen and center Scott Quessenberry will not be activated for Week 14. This is a huge blow for the Chargers, who will miss the impacts of both players on the game day field. Allen has 929 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season.

The only silver lining in the situation is that Williams is most likely available as a wide receiver for Herbert on Sunday. Without Allen, and with Austin Ekeler's availability in question, Williams can expect to receive the majority of Herbert's targets this weekend.
