The Los Angeles Chargers have re-signed safety Adrian Phillips, according to Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com.

“We’re very happy to have him back,” said Chargers general manager Tom Telesco.

Phillips is coming off a terrific 2018 campaign in which he racked up 94 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, and nine passes defended, en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 26-year-old, who played collegiate football at the University of Texas, went undrafted but signed with the Chargers in June of 2014.

He played in only three games during his rookie campaign, logging one tackle. The following season, Phillips appeared in nine contests and recorded 16 tackles and an interception.

The Garland, Tex., native did not get a true opportunity until his third season in the NFL in 2016, when he participated in 14 games and finished with 35 tackles and an interception.

Then, in 2017, Phillips played in 15 games and totaled 59 tackles, a couple of picks, a forced fumble, and five passes defended.

This past season represented the first full 16-game campaign of Phillips' career.

Los Angeles won 12 regular-season games in 2018, but due to losing the tiebreaker to the Kansas City Chiefs, it had to settle for a wild card berth in the AFC. The Chargers defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the wild card round of the playoffs but then fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion New England Patriots the next week.

It marked just the Bolts' second postseason appearance since 2010. Prior to that, the Chargers had made the playoffs four years in a row.
