Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is feeling some regret about missing the team's training camp and early part of the regular season. Not only is his paycheck lighter, but he has also had some issues getting into a rhythm.

On the season, Gordon has 36 rushing attempts for 81 yards and zero touchdowns. He also had a crucial fumble against the Tennessee Titans on the one-yard line that cost the Chargers a chance at victory. He was asked if he would do anything differently if he was ever in this situation again.

“I know I won’t miss another training camp again, I can tell you that,” Gordon said via the LA Times. “But if I was to go back, I can’t say. Just with the running back thing and all that, we want to get paid, you know. I don’t know. That’s tough.”

The idea that Gordon had was to hold out in hopes of receiving a larger contract or a trade to a new team that would give him one. Neither of those happened and that prompted him to return to the team. After the fumble in Week 7, it will be interesting to see if his role decreases. Gordon said on Monday that he hated letting his teammates down.

“It’s an emotional game, and one thing I hate most about [Sunday] is I let you all see me sweat and showed emotion out there. But I hate letting my teammates down more than anything,” Gordon said.

Gordon did what he thought he needed to do to gain some leverage in the situation. However, the holdout might end up costing him more than just the fines he received from the Chargers.
