There is now one notable injury issue for the Los Angeles Chargers ahead of their upcoming Week 8 home clash with the New England Patriots.

As noted by the Chargers' official injury report, running back Austin Ekeler did not take part in the team's scheduled practice session on Thursday due to a hip injury.

This is quite notable as the versatile back took part in the Chargers' scheduled practice session on Wednesday. It will be noteworthy to see whether he goes on to feature in practice on Friday and if he may be a full participant in it.

While he has played in all six of the Chargers' regular season games so far this year, Ekeler has had to battle through injuries along the way. He was ruled as questionable for the team's season opener against the Washington Football Team due to a hamstring injury, although he went on to not only feature in the contest but he also finished with 57 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

An ankle injury later became a concern for him in the days leading up to the matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns, but he still managed to take part in both games.

In the big picture, backup running backs Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson may be called upon to heavily feature against the Patriots if Ekeler goes on to not receive the green light to play in the game. They have combined for 80 yards from scrimmage so far in the campaign.

The Chargers are eyeing a 5-2 start to the season.
