The Los Angeles Chargers have seemingly shored up their secondary with the addition of safety Nasir Adderley. It appears he has high expectations for himself and fellow safety Derwin James.

The Chargers have managed to bring in two of the more talented safeties in the last two drafts. According to Fernando Ramirez of NBC Sports, Adderley feels he and James could be the best safety duo in the NFL.

Chargers newest S Nasir Adderley says he and Derwin James could be the best safety duo in the NFL.

While Adderley may be getting a bit ahead of himself, his comments are certainly understandable. James has already established himself as one of the best players at his position after the Chargers made him the 17th overall pick on the 2018 NFL Draft. He finished the 2018 campaign with 105 tackles, three interceptions, and 3.5 sacks en route to the Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors. The fact that he was only a rookie makes all the more impressive.

Adderley may not have had the same elite background James did coming out of college, however, he was able to emerge as one of the more notable defensive prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft. He is coming off a stellar career of his own after being awarded back-to-back first-team All CAA honors. Although Adderley may have slipped to the second round, it is clear that he is eager to prove his doubters wrong. Fortunately, lining up next to James should help smoothen the transition as he looks to make an immediate impact next season.
