The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been pegged as the starter going into the 2020 NFL season. It appears he is putting in the work next to a familiar face this offseason.

Taylor posted a picture of him taking snaps next to former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton on his Instagram story:

Taylor certainly has some big shoes to fill after the Chargers opted to part ways with quarterback Philip Rivers this offseason. Perhaps the team can still do its due diligence on the players still left on the market.

Newton is testing waters as a free agent after his release from the Panthers. Despite clearly being unhappy about the departure, he has since taken to social media to show off his efforts for a comeback with multiple workout videos.

The Chargers are hoping to kick off the 2020 campaign in style when they usher in a new era at SoFi Stadium. Bringing in a household name like Newton would certainly help the team sell tickets. Especially in a market where they have largely struggled to make a profound impact since the relocation. Bringing in two starting-caliber quarterbacks to compete for the No. 1 job certainly does not hurt, especially with all the upgrades they made to the roster in free agency.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Newton was simply joining Taylor for a workout or had a business meeting with the Chargers lined up. Regardless, it will undoubtedly be interesting to see where he lands this offseason.
