The Los Angeles Chargers got seemed to have caught another bad break on the injury front in the first half of their Thursday Night Football road matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s after Chargers star wide receiver Keenan Allen sustained a hip injury that has forced him to leave the game.

According to the Chargers’ official Twitter account, the status of Allen’s availability for this game is currently up in the air.

Allen hurt his hip while trying to haul down a touchdown pass in the end zone. The veteran wideout failed to complete the reception and got up visibly shaken, as he was clutching his hip while gingerly waking off of the field.

The Chargers are hoping that Allen’s injury is not serious enough to keep him out for any number of games.

For one, Los Angeles is already dealing with an injury to another key offensive component in the form of running back Melvin Gordon, who, including Week 15’s date with the Chiefs, have missed three straight games due to an MCL sprain he sustained back in Week 12’s win at home over the Arizona Cardinals. The Chargers are also missing Gordon’s chief backup, Austin Ekeler due to a neck injury, leaving rookie Justin Jackson as the team’s starter against Kansas City.

If Allen would need time away from action to recover from his injury, Mike Williams, Tyrell Williams, and Travis Benjamin are going to see an uptick in playing time and opportunity downfield.
