Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt will remain with the team after removing himself from consideration for the Georgia Tech head coaching job.

Whisenhunt was reportedly one of the favorites to take over at the ACC school, but it appears that he chose to stay in the professional ranks with the Chargers, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

The veteran coach joined the franchise in 2016 after being fired as head coach of the Tennessee Titans. He had previously been with the Chargers during their time in San Diego, serving as offensive coordinator in 2013 before taking the Titans job.

It's been quite a year for Whisenhunt and the Chargers offense, as they currently rank sixth in the league with 28.3 points per game.

That has helped Los Angeles turn things around after starting the season 1-2 overall, with Anthony Lynn's group winning eight of their last nine games to move to 9-3 on the year.

While the Chargers were without star running back Melvin Gordon last weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philip Rivers and company still managed to pull off an incredible comeback to earn the 33-30 win at Heinz Field.

The Chargers will return to the field on Sunday for what appears to be a great matchup against a struggling Cincinnati Bengals squad.

Cincinnati is without starting quarterback Andy Dalton and wide receiver A.J. Green, who are both out for the season due to injury.

That should give Whisenhunt's offense a chance to rack up even more points in a highly favorable matchup.
