The Los Angeles Chargers have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but they have won three straight heading into their Week 17 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and have improved their win-loss record to 6-9.

There are some conflicting reports about Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn's status with the franchise. A report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora from Sunday morning claimed rookie Justin Herbert’s development along with the Chargers’ recent winning run and the Spanos family’s high regard for Lynn could be enough for him to keep the job for at least another season.

However, another report from FOX Sports' Jay Glazer says Lynn is a goner:

If the Chargers part ways with Lynn, it will end his tenure as the team’s head coach after four seasons. He entered Week 17 with a 32-31 record.

The 52-year-old has guided Los Angeles to two winning seasons in his four years with the team, including a 9-7 record in his first season and a 12-4 record and a playoff appearance the following year.

The Chargers then stumbled to a 5-11 record last season and have exceeded it by just one win this year, with several close defeats that could have been wins. Poor clock management and late collapses have been an issue in these losses.

Meanwhile, one of the few bright spots for the team has been Herbert, who was drafted with the sixth overall pick out of Oregon in the 2020 NFL Draft. The 22-year-old has surpassed expectations, completing 374 out of 564 passes for 4,034 passing yards and 28 touchdowns (rookie record) with 10 interceptions through 14 games.
