The Buffalo Bills have had some issues defending the Hail Mary this season. The Bills fell victim to another Hail Mary against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, but this time it didn't cost them the game.

With the Chargers facing 4th-and-27 and a 10-point deficit late in the fourth quarter, rookie quarterback Justin Herbert launched up a prayer. It was answered by Tyron Johnson:

Luckily for Buffalo, the pass fell short of the end zone and they ultimately came away with a 27-17 victory. The Chargers' clock management late in the game was a total disaster, helping Buffalo hold on.

This is a different outcome than what happened the last time the Bills gave up a miraculous Hail Mary. That, of course, occurred when Kyler Murray hit DeAndre Hopkins for a score to give the Arizona Cardinals a shocking win.

Buffalo's win this time around now has them at 8-3 on the season, which is good for first place in the AFC East. Josh Allen had a relatively quiet game, completing 18-of-24 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Allen did add a touchdown on the ground, rushing for 32 yards on nine carries in the process.

As for the Chargers, they're a disappointing 3-8 on the season, but they have found their golden nugget for the future in Herbert. The rookie had an okay game against the Bills, throwing for 316 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He now has six games with over 300 yards passing this season.

It will be interesting to see if Herbert is playing for a new coach next season. Lynn will likely find himself on the hot seat considering all the blown leads and poor clock management on display in this latest loss.
