Michael Jordan is regarded by many as the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball. However in a recent revelation from fellow basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, there might also be a case for His Airness being one of the all-time greatest gamblers as well.

Appearing on The Dan Patrick Show, Sir Charles exposed how he once saw Jordan bet $300,000 on a single golf putt. Barkley did not appear to be exaggerating here and even went on to say that this wasn’t an uncommon practice for MJ.

Although the story does seem a bit absurd, it would not at all be impossible. As of 2017, Jordan’s real time net worth is at $1.31 billion, per Forbes.com. It would then follow that 300 grand would actually be “chump change,” as described by Barkley, for the 6-time NBA champion.

Once fierce competitors on the court, these two all-time greats developed a very good friendship through the years.  Aside from being golfing buddies, Barkley even appeared in Jordan’s 1996 live-action/animated sports film Space Jam.

In the interview the 54-year-old host of TNT’s Inside the NBA also shared about his former gambling problem that caused him to lose millions of dollars, which actually did not seem like too big of a deal for him.
