It's not uncommon for the TNT Halftime crew to make headlines the day after a broadcast. With Shaquille O'Neal, Ernie Johnson, Kenny “The Jet” Smith, and Charles Barkley, the four of them usually provide hilarious commentary that entertains NBA fans that tune in.

However, every so often, a joke will go too far, and that is exactly what happened on Thursday night, per TMZ Sports. Ernie Johnson was in the middle of praising Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for scoring 29 points against the Dallas Mavericks. He mentioned KCP's college program, Georgia, in which Barkley commented, “Only school in the world they named their mascot after the women down there.”

There is laughter heard in the sound bite, but Ernie Johnson clearly is not one of them. He immediately lets Barkley know he's in the wrong and does everything he can to steer the conversation away from Barkley's comment.

“So totally uncalled for,” Johnson said … “Not even gonna dignify that with a response.”

According to TMZ, this isn't the first time Charles Barkley has made fun of women. “He's repeatedly said the ladies of San Antonio are ‘big women' and blamed it on the delicious churros that are popular in the area.”

After Thursday night's comments, Charles Barkley has found himself in the dog house, as he's facing criticism for his terrible joke. Although Chuck does provide hilarious moments on the TNT Halftime show, he does have a knack for taking things too far at times. Barkley has yet to offer an apology for his comment.
