The player/coach of the BIG3's Killer 3s, Charles Oakley, got his first taste of competitive basketball in 13 years since retiring from the NBA, and his return to the hardwood  wasn't much different from the physical basketball of the 80s and 90s.

Old habits die hard for “Oak”, who came really close to fighting Trilogy's James White at one point in the game.

The 19-year pro is no stranger to scuffles and fist fights on the court, as part of the New York Knicks' brigade during the late 80s and early 90s — a team that played a very chippy brand of basketball.

While there isn't footage of the near-incident, Trilogy's captain Kenyon Martin spoke about it briefly in the post-game press conference.

“We’re gonna get everybody’s best shot, emotionally and physically,” Martin said after his team remained undefeated with a 50-41 win over the Killer 3s. “Everybody gonna wanna come out, they wanna beat us. And Oak, it’s Oak being his first game out there, full of energy; they were looking for a spark.

“It’s all fun and games,” Martin continued. “We’re all out here competing. It ain’t gonna go over the top. Well, I don’t think it is. We out here having fun; that’s what it’s about. It’s about giving the fans a show, and I think we have for eight weeks.”

Oakley finished with a goose egg in eight minutes of playing time, quickly picking up four personal fouls in the loss.
