New York Knicks legend Charles Oakley was interviewed by TMZ Sports and asked about Carmelo Anthony‘s potential with the Knicks organization or any other one, inquiring if he still had anything left in the tank at his soon-to-be 33 years of age.

“I think he's still got a lot left,” said Oakley. “I think he just needs to get out of New York. He needs to go out to another team that needs another scorer, a team like OKC, the Clippers, Houston.”

“This city is just, you know… so much going on with management. You deserve better but you have to speak up for yourself.”

Anthony was in the midst of an ongoing passive-aggressive war with president Phil Jackson, which reached its highest point shortly after the season ended, when he claimed Anthony should seek out a place where he could win a championship.

The 6-foot-8 forward is also dealing with the divorce from his wife, LaLa, which gives him yet another reason from leaving his beloved New York and make the most of the remaining fuel in his tank to chase a ring elsewhere.

A bona fide scorer and potent force at his position, the Knicks forward will have plenty of teams interested in his service — but the question remains how hard of a bargain will Jackson drive when it comes down to a return package for his perennial All-Star.
