Charles Woodson, a former All-Pro defensive back for the Oakland Raiders, has just left his gig at ESPN. He was a football analyst. As he hung up the cleats on his new day job, one seemed to have opened, as the Raiders have their defensive backs coaching slot open. Head coach Jon Gruden hasn't decided on anyone for the position yet, so it seems as if it might be available to Woodson.

However, when Levi Damien tweeted out his suspicions, Woodson shot them down on Twitter as “pure coincidence.” Even though Woodson may end up with the job, he wants to make sure everyone knows he didn't leave his broadcasting gig for the position on Gruden's staff.

During his career, Woodson was one of the NFL's best at the cornerback position. He was a nine-time pro-bowler and a three-time All-Pro. He had 10 seasons with at least three interceptions. He even led the league in interceptions twice in 2009 and 2011. His career was split between the Green Bay Packers and the Raiders as a whole.

Gruden and the Raiders had a rocky start coming into last season. Gruden signed a 10 year, $100 million contract to be the team's head coach. He ended up trading away two of his best assets, Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, just because he didn't feel they didn't fit into his culture.

They went 4-12 and finished fourth overall in the AFC West Division. Moving forward, they should be making a complete overhaul of the roster as Gruden sees fit.
