Charlie Garner’s net worth is estimated to be around $1-5 million. This is agreed upon by multiple sources such as Biography Net Worth and Popular Bio.

Despite having a long career in the NFL, not much is known about the former running back. Now, let’s learn more about his journey.

Charlie Garner III was born on February 13, 1972, in Falls Church, Virginia. He played high school football in J.E.B. Stuart High School (now known as Justice High School). He was an impressive player as he was selected as a member of the First Team All-Metropolitan (known as the Washington metropolitan area which consists of Northern Virginia, Suburban Maryland, and the District of Columbia).

On top of his First Team All-Metropolitan selection, he was also included in the First Team All-State and was named Virginia’s Player of the Year. All of these awards came in his senior year when he rushed for more than 2,000 yards and scored 38 touchdowns.

On October 16, 2009, JEB Stuart High School retired Garner’s No. 30 jersey during a halftime ceremony.

For his collegiate football career, Charlie Garner first attended Scottsdale Community College. In 1991, he set junior college records for most rushing yards in a single game with 430, and the most rushing yards in consecutive games with 765.

He then transferred to the University of Tennessee to join the Tennessee Volunteers. In 1992, he had 154 carries for 928 yards and 2 touchdowns, as well as 5 catches for 25 yards. The following year, he rushed for 1,161 yards in 159 carries for 8 touchdowns and caught 12 passes for 81 yards.

Charlie Garner graduated from the University of Tennessee with a business degree.

In the 1994 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles drafted Charlie Garner with the 42nd pick in the 2nd round.

In his rookie year, Charlie Garner played 10 games and started in 8 and he rushed 109 times and gained 399 yards, and scored 3 touchdowns. He also received 8 passes to gain 74 yards, but he did not score any receiving touchdowns.

Garner played for the Eagles from 1994 until 1998. He started in 17 games of the 66 that he played in and he had totals of 495 rushes, 2,261 rushing yards, and 17 touchdowns. He also received the ball 75 times for 562 yards.

In the 1999 season, he was signed by the San Francisco 49ers and he became the starting running back of the team. Garner finished that season with a career-high 1,229 rushing yards on his 241 carries to go along with his 4 touchdowns. He also scored 2 receiving touchdowns on 535 receiving yards.

The following year was one of the best for him. He started in 15 out of 16 games and he scored 7 rushing touchdowns on 1,142 rushing yards, as well as 3 receiving touchdowns on 647 receiving yards. He was also named to his first, and only, Pro Bowl selection during the 2000 season.

After his Pro Bowl season, Charlie Garner joined the Oakland Raiders for the 2001 season and he also became the team’s starting running back. However, he played one of his best seasons in the following year.

Charlie Garner led the Oakland Raiders in rushes with 962 yards in 182 attempts and 7 touchdowns. He also led NFL running backs in receiving with 91 receptions for 941 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 91 receptions and 941 yards were the fifth and fourth most, respectively, by a running in NFL history.

He played one more year for the Raiders before signing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to the 2004 season. Unfortunately, he only played, and started, for 3 games with the Bucs before suffering a knee injury that forced him to sit out the rest of the year.

Tampa Bay released Charlie Garner in August 2005, and he never signed a contract with an NFL team ever since.

In his 11-year NFL career, Charlie Garner played in 147 games and started in 90 of those. He rushed for a total of 7,097 yards in 1,537 attempts and scored 39 touchdowns. He also had 3,711 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns throughout his career.

In 2017, doctors believed that Charlie Garner has chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE. It is a term used to describe the degeneration of the brain likely caused by multiple, repeated head traumas — and this has been a plague for numerous former NFL players.

“I don't have all my faculties anymore,” Garner said. “I can't remember things. When I go to the mall or grocery store, I have to take one of my kids with me to remember where the car is parked. I have trouble remembering conversations I had five minutes ago. Bright lights bother me. I just don't feel right all the time.”

He said he retired thinking he’s safe as he was officially diagnosed with only two concussions during his playing career. It was later explained to him that even minor collisions can cause the brain to rattle against the skull.

Garner joined the lawsuit by former NFL players against the league for not educating them about the dangers of concussions.

“Football gave me a good lifestyle for me and my family,” Garner said. “But I might end up paying a big price for it. Other people already have paid a big price for it. People ask me all the time if I would do it all over again if I knew more about concussions. I say yes, but I would do it as a defensive back because I wouldn't have taken so many hits.”

The former running back definitely enjoyed his football career. He is a one-time Pro Bowler and he was one of the Raiders’ top offensive options during his stay there. Here’s to hoping that his condition doesn’t get worse and he’s able to fight it.

With all of that being said, were you surprised about Charlie Garner’s net worth in 2022?
