Chelsea has cleared the air with Romelu Lukaku after his bombshell interview surfaced last week where the Belgian said he was unhappy at the club and wanted to one day return to Inter Milan.

Thomas Tuchel and the Blues higher-ups met on Monday with Lukaku before he trained in full with the team, via ESPN. Basically, the 28-year-old felt the interview was misunderstood as he was actually trying to send a message to Inter fans, who Lukaku felt he let down after his €115 million departure to Stamford Bridge, much in part to the Nerrazuri's financial issues.

Tuchel addressed the situation on Tuesday and made it clear that it's time for Chelsea to move forward and leave this fiasco in the past. Via Fabrizio Romano:

“There are zero doubts to Romelu Lukaku's commitment to the team. He is very committed. That's why it so was so surprising. He never created any problem, he's very emotional guy. I hope the supporters can take this also and support the team. It's time to move on”.

Lukaku was dropped from the Chelsea squad on Sunday in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool because the German manager felt the interview created far too much noise ahead of such a big game. Tuchel received praise from fans and pundits for his decision, but after repairing the relationship, Lukaku will be in line to start on Wednesday in the first leg of the EFL Cup semifinals against Tottenham.

The Belgium international has scored in back-to-back appearances since returning from an ankle injury and COVID-19. Lukaku has five goals in 13 Premier League matches this term.
