Former Manchester United defender and current analyst Gary Neville responds to Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy's terrific performance against Brentford.

During Chelsea's 1-0 victory against Brentford, Mendy proved to many that he belongs in discussions of the “World's Best Goalkeeper.”

Nicknamed as “Tall Doorkeeper,” Mendy's saves were jaw-dropping. Brentford showed decent capability throughout the game and had effective attempts on goal— only to have these shots thwarted by Mendy.

As an analyst for Sky Sports Football, Neville hails Mendy's performance, explaining the keeper's role in delivering a victory for Chelsea.

“If you’re going to win a title there are going to be games where you don’t play well, you don’t deserve to win the game but your goalkeeper makes two or three world-class saves. He was brilliant today Mendy.”

“He has made that difference, if you think of Kepa in goal for Chelsea when Frank [Lampard] was there, it was a big problem, they were conceding too many goals,” he added.

“It got to the point where he wouldn’t even dive for it, it was in the middle of his net, two meters away from the post.”

After signing for Chelsea in 2020, Mendy has significantly contributed to the club's recent success, especially during the team's successful Champions League stint.

“It’s a lot more difficult to score against Chelsea, not just because of the change to the back five, which Thomas Tuchel brought in, but also the goalkeeper.”

Today, Chelsea is considered one of the favorites to win the Premier League trophy; a massive reason for that stems from Mendy's recent world-class form.
