The Chicago Bulls were the worst team in the NBA over the last four seasons, but they've almost completely turned over their roster around Zach LaVine in the last year. The result is a Bulls team that's 14-8 to start the 2021-22 season, which has them near the top of the Eastern Conference.

There was a good amount of skepticism surrounding this Bulls squad coming into this season, even despite their big splashy moves, but so far they're looking like they could be a threat. But just how good can the Bulls be? Could they pull off a run similar to that of the Atlanta Hawks or even the Phoenix Suns from last season after years of struggles?

Reaching the NBA Finals will certainly be a tall task given the presence of the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks and mighty Brooklyn Nets in the East, plus a number of other quality teams. However, even winning a series or two would be a massive accomplishment for this franchise after what happened in recent seasons.

On the latest episode of Blue Wire's Cash Considerations podcast, Sports Illustrated's Chris Herring talked about the Bulls' ceiling and just how far they can go. While there are still legitimate questions surrounding this roster, he's a believer in their talent level:

“I like the idea of them being able to take a series, maybe two, in a single postseason. I think they're good enough to do it. … I think talent wise, honestly I feel like they're kinda right there. There's really no reason that they shouldn't be able to, but as DeRozan will tell you from those Toronto years, sometimes you have more talent than the team you're playing against, and it doesn't play out the way the talent dictates. … I would certainly put a couple of teams in the East, namely Milwaukee and I think Brooklyn and maybe even Miami ahead of them for sure before I would put the Bulls there for a title. But, honestly, they may finish with better records than all those teams, and I wouldn't be stunned.”

There's still a whole lot of season left, and a lot can happen during that time. But the Bulls have shown that if they're healthy, they're going to win a lot of games and potentially be a very tough out in the playoffs.
