Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a dislocated knee cap during his team's win over the Denver Broncos last Thursday, but fortunately, the injury is not nearly as severe as it could have been.

Mahomes was initially expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks, but now, it's looking like the reigning MVP could be back sooner, with some even speculating he could potentially play in next Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

But don't get too excited.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said it would be “a stretch” for Mahomes to actually take the field in Week 8 (per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com), so, chances are, Matt Moore will be under center for Kansas City next weekend.

Mahomes completed 10 of his 11 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown before exiting the victory over the Broncos.

On the season overall, Mahomes has thrown for 2,180 yards, 15 touchdowns and one interception while completing 65.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 113.1.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, was originally selected by the Chiefs with the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
