Kansas City Chiefs running back Carlos Hyde has gained more reps in the team's training camp due to 27-year-old back Damien Williams' hamstring injury.

Head coach Andy Reid, entering his seventh season with the Missourian franchise, is expressing slight concern with the former Miami Dolphins RB Williams and his hamstring.

Via Blair Kerkhoff in The Kansas City Star:

“I can’t tell you exactly when (Williams will return),” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “He’s missed quite a bit, missed a lot of plays but it’s been great for the other guys.

“Carlos has done a nice job. He’s getting a lot of reps and he’s taking advantage of them.”

Hyde signed a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Chiefs in the offseason, making Kansas City his fourth team in three years. The 28-year-old was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2014 draft.

Williams, meanwhile, is nursing that hamstring injury after a solid 2018 initial season with the Chiefs. After two seasons at the University of Oklahoma, Williams entered the 2014 draft, where he went unclaimed. He would later sign with the Dolphins, spending four seasons in Miami. Williams first signed with Kansas City in March 2018 and received greater playing time following Kareem Hunt's release. KC extended the 5-foot-11 Williams to a two-year deal in December of last year.
