Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes came up clutch once again as he led the team to a 27-24 overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Mahomes made some big plays, perhaps none bigger than his amazing fourth-down throw to Tyreek Hill for 48 yards to help them send the game into overtime.

After the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was full of praise for his young quarterback’s performance and suggested that this was the MVP contender’s best game of the season to date.

“He had the one interception but other than that, I thought this was his best game,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid per Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com. “This defense was a huge challenge. These son of a guns were really good and have a really good package. They unloaded it at him and he kept bringing it. I'm proud of him for doing that. You can get a little defeated when you get hit as many times as he got hit but he stayed in there and kept firing.”

Mahomes’ stat line — 35 of 53 for 377 yards with two touchdowns and an interception — doesn’t particularly stand out, especially compared to his gaudy numbers earlier in the season.

But as Reid points out, the Ravens’ top-ranked defense was a huge test for Mahomes, and the first-year starter passed it.

Mahomes won’t have to wait long for his next big challenge as the Chiefs face off against the Chargers on Thursday night. Philip Rivers has been playing terrific ball of late for LA, and Mahomes will once again need to be on top of his game to outduel the veteran in this huge AFC West showdown.
