The Kansas City Chiefs' secondary will be getting a boost as starting cornerback Bashaud Breeland is now set to play against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game. He has already cleared the concussion protocol and will rejoin the team on Sunday, per NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport.

Breeland joined Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the concussion protocol after absorbing hits during their game against the Cleveland Browns. The cornerback exited the field in the second half and failed to return to the game.

Another cornerback in Rashad Fenton was also ruled out against the Browns after suffering an ankle injury in Week 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Without them on the field, backup defensive players in Antonio Hamilton and Charvarius Ward matched up against the Browns receivers for the remainder of the divisional round tilt.

They did a decent job of holding their ground as they prevented the Browns offense to manufacture a late-game comeback in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs eventually ran away with a 22-17 victory to advance to the next round of the postseason.

The presence of the Chiefs' secondary will be crucial against the Bills as they will be going up against prolific receiving threats led by pass-catcher Stefon Diggs. Receiver Cole Beasley and wideout John Brown are also capable weapons that are looking to deal damage against the Chiefs as well.

With Bashaud Breeland confirmed to be back on the lineup, the reigning Super Bowl champions are looking to match up and contain the explosive Bills offense in the all-important game. Both teams will vie for a spot in the Super Bowl come Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
