Twenty of the 22 starters for the 2019-20 Super Bowl LIV champion Kansas City Chiefs are returning for the 2020 NFL season following the AFC West franchise re-signing veteran free agent cornerback Brashaud Breeland on Thursday.

Breeland, who re-upped with the Chiefs for a one-year, $4.5 million contract, was the last remaining starter Kansas City left who entered free agency and could have left the club following their historic Super Bowl victory 50 years removed from the Chiefs winning Super Bowl IV.

Veteran offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski signed a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers two weeks ago. The 31-year-old played the guard position on the line, protecting former league MVP and Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes in his sole season with the Chiefs. Wisniewski previously spent three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, winning his first Super Bowl with the NFC franchise, following four years with the Oakland Raiders and a season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The other starter departing the Chiefs in free agency was third-year inside linebacker Reggie Ragland, who agreed to a contract with the Detroit Lions. Kansas City had acquired the 26-year-old after the Buffalo Bills traded the former second-round pick and Alabama product the year after he missed his true rookie NFL season due to suffering an ACL tear in training camp.

The Chiefs should be on the top of everyone's list to contend for a second consecutive Super Bowl championship in 2020-21 due to the strength of their starters alone. And given that 90.9 percent of their 22 championship-winning starters will be back in a Kansas City uniform next season means this is just as dangerous a team.
