Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones is expected to miss time with a groin injury after having an MRI on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He is week-to-week with the injury, meaning he is likely out for Week 6 against the Houston Texans.

Jones played 38 snaps in Sunday night's 19-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts before the Chiefs ruled him out with the injury. He made a tackle and two quarterback hits before leaving the primetime game.

The Chiefs also lost fellow defensive tackle Xavier Williams on Sunday with an ankle injury. Derrick Nnadi and Khalen Saunders are the only healthy defensive tackles on the roster.

Jones is a difference-maker for the Chiefs defense and is considered the engine of their defensive line — if not the whole group. In 2018 — despite working from the interior — he led Kansas City in sacks with 15.5. He also chipped in 40 combined tackles, 29 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and five pass deflections.

Through five games of 2019 play, Jones has 2.0 sacks, 11 combined tackles, seven quarterback hits and a pass deflection. In addition, the fourth-year defensive tackle has three hurries, three quarterback knockdowns and eight pressures, per Pro Football Reference.

Though not yet ruled out for Week 6, he probably won't play. If that is the case, the Chiefs become that much more injured. Left tackle Eric Fisher is already down, wide receiver Sammy Watkins suffered yet another hamstring injury on Sunday, quarterback Patrick Mahomes is dealing with an ankle injury and wide receiver Tyreek Hill is not yet confirmed to play next week with a shoulder injury.
