Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones did not practice on Wednesday due to his calf injury, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

Head coach Andy Reid said that Jones is getting better but that the team will have to see about his status for the AFC Championship Game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Jones did not play in the Chiefs' Divisional Round playoff win over the Houston Texans last weekend.

Should Jones be sidelined again this week, it would be a pretty devastating blow for a Kansas City defense that will be trying to stop a red-hot Titans running back in Derrick Henry.

Jones played in 13 games this season, totaling 36 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and four passes defended, earning his first Pro Bowl selection as a result.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was originally selected by the Chiefs in the second round (37th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He played in every game during his rookie campaign, logging 26 tackles and a couple of sacks. He then showed significant improvement in his second season, registering 32 tackles, 6.5 sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles and seven passes defended.

Jones finally broke out in 2018, racking up 40 tackles, 15.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, a pick and a defensive touchdown.

For a Chiefs defense that lacks elite-level talent as it is, Jones' potential absence against Tennessee would obviously be significant.

Kansas City is coming off of a thrilling 51-31 victory over the Texans in which it rallied from a 24-point deficit.
