Chris Jones is the best player on the Kansas City Chiefs' defense, but he hasn't been able to make much of an impact during his club's playoff run.

A calf injury sidelined Jones in the Chiefs' Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans, and he played just 28 snaps in Kansas City's AFC Championship Game victory over the Tennessee Titans this past weekend.

But apparently, Jones will have more of a role in the Super Bowl.

On Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked about the status of his star defensive lineman, and Reid seemed pretty optimistic.

“I think he feels pretty good,’’ said Reid, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. “He didn’t have a setback so that was good.’’

The good news for Kansas City is that Jones will get two weeks to rest up before the Chiefs have to battle the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 2.

When he is right, Jones is one of the most disruptive forces in the NFL.

In 13 regular-season games, the 25-year-old registered 36 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery en route to his first Pro Bowl selection.

Jones, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was originally selected by Kansas City in the second round (37th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

His breakout season came in 2018, when he racked up 40 tackles, 15.5 sacks, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown.

Jones had never missed a game prior to the 2019 campaign.

The Chiefs won 12 games and captured the AFC West division title this season, locking up a first-round bye.
